The Swarovski Balance Rail is necessary to achieve a smooth rotation along the tripod head's horizontal axis. A telescope's centre of gravity must be as close as possible to the rotational axis. It is for that reason that on Swarovski telescopes the tripod foot is located beneath the viewing appliance's centre of gravity. When attaching a camera (using the TLS 800, DCA, DCB), however, the centre of gravity shifts. A balance rail is necessary to compensate for this.

The balance rail is suitable for the ATS, STS, AT. ST CTC, CTS telescopes. It is not suitable for the CT 85.

The balance rail can be fitted straight on to the FH 101 tripod head, to Tripod 1 and 2 and the Manfrotto #128 tripod head. It is not suitable for other tripods or tripod heads.
